Worn Rattan Peacock Chair
This vintage 1970s- era peacock chair has been well-loved and is not in perfect shape, but still stops people in their tracks to talk about it. The style of this throne-like chair originated in the Philippines, where it was hand woven. This colonial import went on to become a symbol of counter-cultural resistance, seating Huey P. Newton, Minister of Defense of the Black Panther Party in an iconic photo in 1967. We can’t trace this exact chair to Huey himself, but if you want to feel beautiful and powerful, we highly recommend a seat.
Vintage condition. Some fibers are fragile.
42” W (at widest point of chair) x 17.5” D (seat) x 56.25” H
